Hello, MHA Families!
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services has issued a new Epidemic Order, effective January 16th. The most recent order states that,“Gatherings at ice and roller rinks are permitted, except for organized contact sports, provided that occupancy is limited to 4 persons per 1,000 square feet, including within the exercise space. Gatherings for the purpose of non-contact sports and open skating are permitted.”
Given this information, “contactless” practices may resume on January 16th. These practices will be designed to limit contact among players and support social distancing to the greatest extent possible. No games, scrimmages, or competitive play is permitted. Coaches will contact you when they are ready to begin practices and with any additional information.
We will be following the safety measures that were adopted in November. That documentation is attached to the email, please review this information prior to participating in any practices. As it was in November, please have your players dress at home. Skates and helmets can be put on in your designated areas. All players and spectators must wear a face mask at all times, no exceptions.
Please use your assigned entry, exits, and seating areas only. There are a few changes to entrances/seating areas for the Tuesday/Thursday practices:
6U and 10U players will enter and exit only through the front doors (along Main Street) and utilize the seating in the front of the rink.
8U and 18U players will enter and leave only through the side doors (along the parking lot) and utilize the seating on the side of the rink.
Please make every effort to follow these rules to help minimize the use of shared spaces and allow for sanitization between teams.
For additional information, please review the MAHA Update - January 14th.
If you do not feel safe returning to hockey, you may request a registration cancellation by contacting the MHA Board.
Please keep an eye out for future emails and follow our website and Facebook page for updates. Please reach out to a Board member if you have any questions.
Stay healthy and safe, and see you all next week!
See you on the ice! MHA Board
